A Personal Philosophy (At This Moment In Time)
I care about how works are made, not just why. I believe in technique and process. I am a maker.
My focus is on the two dimensional, however I am not afraid to self-employ the task of building studio equipment with the plunders of a successful dumpster dive and a trip to the hardware store. My three dimensional work is firmly planted in the realm of the functional, sadly I am not a sculptor.
The mother of my invention is sometimes a need for expression, sometimes the necessity of money—I am not above sending the results of either out to market. I know my place as a skilled manufacturer and producer of things...what good does it do to squander my inventory?
Within the category of self-expression, the "why’s" change and evolve, so I often work in series. Each is an open-ended body of work encompassing a particular facet of my total oeuvre. I have too many curiosities to work in a single style or focus on a single driving force.
