Dissolving Into Seafoam
A newer series of loosely painted landscapes, only reminiscent of ocean waves. This series is the product of two things: 1. My diving into painting making from hand-refined oils. I made some small test batches of white paint and wanted to see how the different mixes affected the movement and workability of the paint. And 2. It stems from a time of major burnout for me, and these pieces were small victories when so much else was in transition or just not going right. The tag line for this work has been, "Keeping it loose when you can't keep it together." So, some non-descript compositions comprised of soft brush strokes and soothing colors created a place where I could rest and just allow myself to push some paint around--sometimes that act alone was enough to restoke a little fire under me.
The title is derived from the ending of the original telling of the Little Mermaid. It's kind of dark, so I'll just leave it at that.
